The Westport Sunrise Rotary sponsored the hugely successful American Red Cross Blood Drive at VFW Post 399 on Thursday, March 11th. The drive was attended by over 61 donors and 55 good units were collected. We had another great turnout, especially considering these uncertain times and every donation is greatly appreciated.
As COVID-19 containment efforts continue nationwide, the Red Cross Blood drives are essential and directly support emergency services open to sustain our fight against coronavirus and help vulnerable patients with chronic illness or disease. The next VFW Blood Drive will take place on Wednesday, April 21st between 11am-4pm sponsored by the Westport Young Woman’s League. The Red Cross Blood Drive in memory of LCPL Charles M. Rochlin USMC was sponsored by Charley with a Y Foundation (www.charleywithay.org) at the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399 on Wednesday, February 10th was a huge success!
The Blood Drive had a completely full reservation schedule exceeding our goal of 45 appointments with 51 blood donors! The success of the blood drive and community support is vital during the COVID-19 pandemic. All life-saving blood donations are being tested for COVID-19 antibodies to help coronavirus patients!
