Clean-up Westport Day on Saturday, April 22nd!

For planning purposes, Westport Parks and Recreation is organizing a Clean-up Westport Day on Saturday, April 22nd.  They asked VFW Post 399 and American Legion Post 63 to help organize the clean-up on Riverside Ave from VFW to Lincoln Street in support of Earth Day.

We need your support for the “All Hands“ working party, to help with litter clean-up on Riverside Ave.  We plan to meet at the VFW parking lot on Saturday at 11am and should be finished not later than 12pm.  Please join the working party…bring a friend!

Rich Zurkowski, bassist extraordinaire, and founding member of JazzFC favorite sons “Portal” (along with David Morgan, Matt Moadel and Greg Wall) has toured across the United States and Europe, backing up well known artists such as Martin Sexton and Blues Grammy Award-winner, Joe Louis Walker. He is also a member of the bands “Jen Durkin and the Business” and “Caravan of Thieves,” American Chamber Orchestra, Fairfield County String Society, and Connecticut Little Symphony.

This show is special- Rich has programmed a night that’s crosses seamlessly between genres, from Monk to Metallica, from Blakey to Brian (Wilson, that is!).

Don’t miss this show as Rich’s diverse worlds collide, and we are all treated with a deep dive into the creative and oh, so swinging world of the Big Man, Rich Z.

March American Legion Post 63 & VFW Pool Tournament

The American Legion Post 63/VFW Post 399 Pool Tournament held on Sunday, March 19th was exciting for both the competitors and spectators.

Again, a special thanks to Ray Gutman for all his hard work to make the tournament a fun event.  Here’s the tournament results:  Jake 1st place (Trophy + $50.00. Ray Gutman  2nd place, Medal + $30.00, and Sam 3rd place + $30.00.

A reminder, next tournament is scheduled for Sunday, April 16th at 1pm.  Sign-up list is posted in the Game Room….$10.00 fee is required.  The tournament is always played on 3rd Sunday of each month.
