Our 36th blood drive on Friday, June 30th was a huge success with over 70 registered donors!  Thank you all for donating! I want to thank all of you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to help our community. History on our Blood Drive…we have sponsored 36 straight monthly blood drives with more than 1466 units of blood donated to the community. Just 1 donation can save up to 3 lives! The American Legion Post 63/VFW Post 399 Pool Tournament held on Sunday, June 25th was the perfect event!  Again, a special thanks to Ray Gutman for all his hard work to make the tournament a success.  Here’s the tournament results:  Rob Mitchell 1st place,  Ray Gutman 2nd place and Brandon Gutman 3rd place.

A reminder, our next tournament is scheduled for Sunday, July 16th at 1pm.  Sign-up list is posted in the Game Room….$10.00 fee is required.  The tournament is always played on 3rd Sunday of each month with a maximum number of 12 participants.

A full field of 96 golfers played to raise funds for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 399 at Longshore Golf Course in Westport, CT on June 12.

“This year’s VFW Post 399 charity golf tournament was held yesterday at Longshore Golf Course in Westport. The annual fundraiser could not have achieved our goal without the generous support of our golfers, sponsors, Auxiliary volunteers and donors,” said VFW Post 399 Quartermaster, Phil Delgado.
“We are sincerely grateful for all the support yesterday to help us serve our veterans and community,” wrapped up Delgado, a Navy veteran.
Located at 465 Riverside Avenue and open to the public, Westport’s VFW Post are veterans serving the community in many ways:
“Jazz Night” weekly host on Thursdays, office hours for CT Veteran Service Officers on Wednesdays and Thursdays, monthly Red Cross Blood Drives (36 straight months to date!), and open houses and ceremonies on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Besides partnering with community institutions like the PAL, Fire Department, Westport Weston Family Y, Westport Senior and Chamber of Commerce, the local VFW is involved with youth activities in schools, scouts and sports teams.
The Post has three different small to large rooms with Saugatuck River views that can be reserved as well, for functions up to 200 people.
