Staples High School brothers Joseph and Michael Pontoriero accompanied by Art Began played the bagpipes today to help celebrate an open house ceremony and Red Cross Blood Drive at the 101 year old Westport Veterans of Foreign Wars Joseph J. Clinton Post 399 at 465 Riverside Avenue. The veterans and guests thoroughly enjoyed the tent events in support of the CT Veteran Service Officer, VFW Post 399 Auxiliary, and Catch A Lift organizations to help honor our community veterans! VFW Post 399 will be hosting an open house and Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, July 29th. The open house event hours will be between 11:00am – 2:00pm. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come see the 101 year old Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399 and help honor our community veterans! Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) District 1 held its quarterly meeting on Saturday, July 10th at VFW Post 399 in Westport. Presiding at the meeting was John Kennedy who serves as District 1 Commander. The district-wide event was a huge success and discussed several important events including the upcoming VFW District 1 Annual Family Picnic scheduled for August 22nd. Please mark your calendar, the picnic will be held at 25 Philo Curtis Road, CT 06482 between 10am-6pm.

For information, Fairfield County has the third largest veteran population in Connecticut. The greatest resource that can be provided to veterans is one that connects them with other veterans.
