Brian Marsella has risen to the top ranks of NYC jazz pianists. A Philadelphia native, Marsella moved to New York in 1998 and has been touring and recording consistently since. Currently Marsella has released 11 albums as a leader or co-leader. His projects include the large ensembles iMAGiNARiUM and Gatos do Sul, the jazz quintet The Flail, the psychedelic surf-rock trio The Modulators as well as two acoustic piano trios (one featuring Kenny Wollesen and Trevor Dunn and the other with Christian McBride and Anwar Marshall.) OUTSPOKEN: The Music of Hasaan Ibn Ali (McBride, Marshall) was chosen as a Best Album of 2018 by The New York City Jazz Record. Brian can also be heard on over 30 other albums including 15 on John Zorn’s TZADIK label (3 as a leader). Over the past 5 years, Brian has become a central figure in John Zorn’s world as a musician in both his Masada and Bagatelle projects as well as a member of Zorn’s Cobra.

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 399 invites all veterans to a Veteran Benefits Luncheon on Thursday, November 13th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 465 Riverside Avenue, Westport. This free event is open to all veterans as part of an outreach effort to check in on veterans’ welfare and connect them with the benefits and support they have earned.
Everyone is welcome!  Whether you’re a veteran or you know someone who served, this is a chance to enjoy lunch, learn more about available veterans’ benefits, and connect with other members of the veteran community in a relaxed and supportive setting.

The event is part of VFW Post 399’s ongoing mission to serve those who have served. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on services and assistance available to veterans.

Tim Hornerhas shared the stages of so many of New York’s major venues such as The Village Vanguard, Birdland, The Blue Note, Lincoln Center, Dizzy’s Coca Cola, as well as many international tours,  and the artists he has worked with at these venues with span a large cross section of Jazz history. He has performed  with people such as Hank Jones, Clifford Jordan, Pepper Adams, Joe Locke, Randy Brecker, Vic Juris, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, The Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, Frank Kimbrough, Roseanna Vitro, Ann Hampton Calloway, Mark Murphy, Joe Williams, Dick Oatts, Red Rodney, Mark Sherman, Ted Rosenthal, Bill Cunliffe and Rufus Reid. In this span of 41 years he has also recorded over 250 recordings as a sideman and 3 of his own personal projects of original compositions. Since 2000 he has been a 5 time Jazz Ambassador for the US State Dept. concertizing and teaching in over 20 countries throughout The World.

This engagement will feature Tim leading a quintet featuring his wonderful writing.
