A single blood donation can save up to three lives, and on Wednesday, July 19th VFW Post 399 and American Legion Post 63 hosted our 37th Red Cross Blood Drive with over 45 donors. 4.5 million Americans need blood transfusions yearly and one in seven hospital patients will need blood. If you missed out on Wednesday’s drive, our next Blood Drive is scheduled for Thursday, August 31st between 11:15 am – 4:15 pm. For appointment, please visit WWW.REDCROSSBLOOD.ORG – use sponsor code: VFWWESTPORT or call 1-800-733-2767.
A reminder, our monthly pool tournament is always held the 3rd Sunday of every month. Please mark your calendar for the next Tournament scheduled on Sunday, August 20th. Sign-up list is posted in the Game Room….$10.00 fee is required with a maximum number of 12 participants.
Throughout the evening, Scout Troop 139 impressively maintained a vigil over the blazing fire pit until all traces of flag remnants were destroyed on Friday, July 14th at VFW Post 399. Conducting a flag retirement ceremony is a very meaningful opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the American flag as a symbol of freedom.
