Our 49th straight monthly Red Cross Blood Drive at the VFW is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31st from 1-6pm. This event is a crucial effort to support our community’s healthcare needs and save lives through blood donations. Blood donations are essential to hospitals and medical facilities, helping patients in critical need of transfusions due to surgeries, accidents, and medical conditions. Your generous contribution can make a significant impact and contribute to the well-being of those in our community. A recent study, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, found that people who donated blood had a significant lower risk of suffering a heart attack!

Participation is open to all community members who are eligible to donate blood. The process is safe, and precautions will be taken to ensure the health and safety of donors and staff, following all necessary COVID-19 guidelines. Donating blood is a noble and life-saving act. In other jazz news, on Wednesdays (starting September 11), Greg “The Jazz Rabbi” Wall will coach 2 adult ensembles: beginners and intermediates/ advanced. Both provide “a gentle and stimulating opportunity to learn and refine the repertoire and language of jazz.”

“The Wednesday Norwalk Community Health Center Farmers’ Market has included onsite meals made by Katie Gervasio. She uses farm produce, and offers samples along with recipes to make them at home.
A voucher program provides customers with bags of fresh-picked vegetables.
What’s makes the market special is its voucher program for the NCHC’s patients with low income. Vouchers have been funded primarily by sponsors, but they have to be rationed near the end of the season.
To supplement the funds, the Health Center hosts a comedy night at Westport’s Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399 on Friday, July 26 (7 p.m.).
