Westport’s Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 399 commemorated its 105th anniversary on Sunday, April 27, celebrating over a century of support to veterans and community. Established on April 27, 1920, by eleven World War I veterans, the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399 has stood as the heart and soul of Westport’s veteran community since its founding.
Named in honor of Private Joseph J. Clinton of Westport—who gave his life in France on November 7, 1918, just four days before the Armistice—Post 399 carries forward his legacy through service and remembrance.
“For 105 years, our Post has been more than a gathering place—it’s been a family,” said Post Quartermaster, Phil Delgado. We honor Private Clinton’s sacrifice by serving today’s veterans, strengthening community ties, and preserving the memory of those who paved the way for our freedoms. VFW Post 399 consistently hosts events—from Memorial Day ceremonies to monthly community blood drives and favorite weekly Jazz At The Post every Thursday —while partnering with regional nonprofits to advance veterans’ causes. As a nonprofit, the Post remains committed to advocacy, outreach, and fellowship for those who have served.
VFW Post 399 is thrilled to present another unforgettable evening of live jazz with Aquintet on Friday, May 30th. Bring your friends and immerse yourself in swinging standards and fresh original arrangements, performed by five of the area’s most dynamic musicians.
We’re excited to share the music we love with our friends at the VFW. As always, expect high‑energy solos, tight grooves, and plenty of surprises.
