Join us for a cool evening of hot jazz at Westport’s own Jazz Inferno! Melissa  is a natural talent, and really makes every song she sings her very own. With a band like this, the evening is sure to be way over the top.

Melissa Newman had a lucrative career singing jingles for companies like AT&T and Chevrolet. Locally she has  performed at the Blue Lemon, Tengda, and Harvest in Westport with guitarist Tony Lombardozzi and bassist Phil Bowler. Melissa also makes, shows and sells ceramic and porcelain sculpture. Melissa was a featured artist in the recent major exhibit, “Layers Revealed” at The Norwalk Art Space. She lives in Westport with her husband and two sons.

VFW Post 399 helped celebrate the Slice of Saugatuck Festival on Saturday, September 30th. After a postponement due to weather 3 weeks ago, the community enjoyed a great afternoon in Saugatuck with pulled pork sliders at the fabulous VFW beer garden.

The Festival is a giant food tasting celebrating one of the best restaurant scenes in the state. The family friendly event had seven bands playing, four bouncy houses, face painter, balloon bender and several beer/wine gardens. A special thanks to our VFW Post 399, American Legion Post 63 memberships, Auxiliaries and Sons of the Legion volunteers today!

A single blood donation can save up to three lives, and on Wednesday, September 20th VFW Post 399 and American Legion Post 63 hosted our 39th Red Cross Blood Drive with over 50 donors. 4.5 million Americans need blood transfusions yearly and one in seven hospital patients will need blood.
