The American Red Cross in partnership with VFW Post 399 hosted their 16th blood drive on Thursday, December 16th with over 65 registered donors. The American Red Cross continues to experience a critical blood shortage and donors of all blood types – especially type O and those giving platelets – are urged to make an appointment at our next blood drive scheduled for Tuesday, January 18th. The American Red Cross’ national blood inventory has never been this low in a decade.This month was special for the American Red Cross, as they will celebrate the 200th birthday of founder, Clara Barton, on December 25, 2021. Again, a special thanks to everyone for continuing to sustain her legacy of service and hope.
Attention Veterans in crisis! Dialing “211” provides individuals and families in need with a shortcut through what can be a bewildering maze of health and human service agency phone numbers. By simply dialing 211, those in need of assistance can be referred, and sometimes connected, to appropriate agencies and community organizations.
Dialing 211 helps direct callers to services for, among others, the elderly, the disabled, those with a personal crisis, homeless and those who are new to their communities.
211 is available to approximately 309 million people, which is 94.6 percent of the total U.S. population. To obtain more information, visit 211.org.
VFW Post 399 is now accepting new toy donations through December 14th! Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Founded in 1947, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity.
