Reserve now for an incredibly exciting night of jazz in Westport. Janice has playing with the jazz Rabbi since the late 80’s. Boots Maleson and the JR go back to the late 70’s! Ron Vincent is Janice’s favorite drummer, and he has an illustrious jazz history. Don’t miss this show!

This short feature about the Famous Piano earned an Emmy award for News12CT producer Lori Golias! Lori will be at the Post on the 7th preparing another segment about the Return of the Famous Piano. Pianist extraordinaire Janice Friedman was the last Jazz artist to play this world famous piano.

(If you are not familiar with how this 1937 Steinway which was played nightly by Jazz giants at Manhattan’s legendary Village Gate, ended up in Westport, scroll down for the full story.)

Janice Friedman, who has recorded with such iconoclasts as Milt Hinton, Warren Vache’ and Claudio Roditi, and has graced the stage with jazz legends such as Billy Higgins and Joe Lovano, was the featured artist at lJazzFC last Thursday night Jazz Rabbi series concert on March 12, 2020.

The piano has not been played since then until…NOW! Last month the piano moved into JazzFC’s new home at Jazz at the Post in Westport, and after settling in for a few weeks after the move it will be back in the public ear, expertly played by none other than the last person to play it..the great Janice Friedman!

“ [Her] explosive piano playing carries the aura and variety of a big band.” John S. Wilson, the New York Times

“Your music sounds great. It made me feel good about things” Master guitarist Jim Hall

“Your playing reminds me of mine.” Legendary pianist, Cedar Walton
