Pianist Chris Coogan has been one of the most popular performers in our area for many years, and for good reason: He “plays great”! Chris grew up here, and has chosen to make Fairfield County his home, as well as his home base for his many faceted misc career. He is a world class jazz pianist, a sensitive and in demand accompanist for singers, a powerhouse Gospel pianist, choir director and bandleader, a highly effective and inspiring educator, and general all around good guy.

The Jazz Rabbi met Chris shortly after moving to Westport almost 10 years ago, and realized they were cut from the same cloth. They share a deep spiritual attachment to African-American music that digs deep into its roots and extends onwards and upwards from there.

Sets at 7:30pm and 8:45pm $15 cover.

Westport experienced an extraordinary evening on Wednesday as the United States Air Force Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble delivered a sensational performance at the Joseph J. Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 399.  The event, featuring Westport’s own jazz trumpet virtuoso and arranger, Michael P. Mossman, showcased the ensemble’s incredible talent, captivating the audience with inspiring music that celebrated patriotism and essence of jazz. The evening’s performance was an eloquent tribute to our veterans and a celebration of the Air Force’s heritage, resonating with the audience through the power of music.  Throughout the afternoon they hosted students from Bridgeport for pre-concert workshops.  A special thanks to Rizzuto’s Restaurant for donating assorted pizzas for the pre-concert dinner!
