Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) District 1 held its quarterly meeting on Saturday, July 10th at VFW Post 399 in Westport.  Presiding at the meeting was John Kennedy who serves as District 1 Commander. The district-wide event was a huge success and discussed several important events including the upcoming VFW District 1 Annual Family Picnic scheduled for August 22nd. Please mark your calendar, the picnic will be held at 25 Philo Curtis Road, CT 06482 between 10am-6pm.

District 1 encompasses VFW Post 399 Westport, VFW Post 149 Danbury, VFW Post 6933 Darien, VFW Post 10059 Trumbull, VFW Post 603 Norwalk, VFW Post 9460 Stratford, VFW Post 9617 Stamford, VFW Post 3052 Ridgefield, VFW Post 9427 Fairfield, VFW Post 10201 Brookfield, VFW Post 10466 Shelton, VFW Post 308 Newtown, VFW Post 145 Bridgeport, VFW Post 653 New Canaan, VFW Post 10273 Bridgeport, and VFW Post 10112 Cos Cob.

For information, Fairfield County has the third largest veteran population in Connecticut. The greatest resource that can be provided to veterans is one that connects them with other veterans. Again, congratulations to the newly elected District 1 officers who are consistently demonstrating leadership, determination and dedication in following the Hero’s Code — Give a little bit of your time and talent everyday to help veterans!
