Westport’s VFW Joseph J. Clinton Post 399 reserved a special table today. The setting honored the 13 U.S. servicemembers killed last week in Afghanistan.
The “Missing Man Table” — also known as the “Fallen Comrade Table” — is steeped in symbolism. It is a humble way to remember the sacrifice of the men and women who gave their lives protecting our freedom.
The VFW Post 399 hosted their 12th consecutive monthly Red Cross Blood Drive and most successful with over 55 registered donors on Wednesday, August 18th! This event was a huge success….VFW Post 399 Quartermaster, Phil Delgado said, “I want to personally thank the donors who gave the gift of life and all the VFW and Auxiliary members who helped to make this day a success! For planning purposes, our next Red Cross Blood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, September 22nd between 11am-4pm.
Donors who come to give Aug. 16-31, 2021, and have a valid email address on file, will receive a $5 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice. We are partnering with Bonnaroo to offer donors who come to give Aug. 1-15, 2021, a chance to win an exclusive VIP journey for two to the sold-out 2021 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.
Thank you for supporting the American Red Cross blood program!
