Join us for the Town of Westport Memorial Day Parade celebrating “250 Years of Honor and Service” on Monday, May 25th, as we honor our veterans. The parade will kick off at 9 a.m. near Saugatuck Elementary School, located at 170 Riverside Ave, and will follow a route heading north on Riverside Avenue, turning right onto Post Road West, crossing the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge to Post Road East, then turning left on Myrtle Avenue, passing Town Hall and Veterans Green, and concluding in Parker Harding Plaza. In case of inclement weather, the memorial ceremonies will be moved to Town Hall’s auditorium at 10 a.m.

Ceremonies on Veterans Green will include BGEN Brien P. Horan, CT Army National Guard (Retired) as the master of ceremonies, with Cub Scout Troops 39 and 139 leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  Singing the National Anthem will be Green’s Farm Elementary School Chorus led by Suzanne Sherman Propp.  First Selectman Kevin Christie will deliver a welcome address, and Herb Podell, World War II veteran and the parade’s Grand Marshal will be introduced.  The ceremony will conclude with the placement of a memorial wreath by members of American Legion Post 63 and VFW Post 399, followed by a firing detail salute by the Westport Police Department.

After the parade and ceremony, everyone is invited to join us at VFW Post 399, located at 465 Riverside Ave, for lunch with our veterans. A special thank you to our volunteers for helping to prepare and serve lunch for our veterans and community!
