Home Depot Foundation Awards Grant to VFW Post 399

The Home Depot Foundation announced that VFW Post 399 was approved for a building renovation grant in support of our 100th Year Anniversary! The renovation will include replacement of ceiling tile/LED Light fixture upgrades throughout building and flooring replacement for bar, meeting rooms and dining room areas. Huge Success - VFW Post 399 Red Cross Blood Drive

The VFW Post 399 Blood Drive held on Monday, January 13th was a huge success. The American Red Cross was happy with our high number donor turnout. End of Season Quarterback Club Event

The Sandbar Restaurant’s Quarterback Club hosted an extraordinary 5-star end of season event on Sunday, January 12th. The buffet event offered an impressive table of hor devours, open bar and a fabulous buffet with roast pork, roast beef, ham and your choice of sides. Every room on the main floor was busy with guests eating, drinking and enjoying NFL end of season football stories. A special thanks to The Gallo Group!

Coat Drive

The VFW Post 399 in December collected new and gently used winter coats, hats and gloves that will be donated to veterans and their families in support of the 2019 Veterans Coat Drive. We are fortunate to live in a generous community and are always counting on that generosity to make certain that our proud Veteran families have the clothing necessary to stay safe and warm during the cold winter months.

Guardian Angels Medical Dogs

Since 2010, the Guardian Angels Medical Dogs organization has been rescuing, training and then donating individually trained medical service dogs to disabled veterans and others struggling with a myriad of disabilities. Please read more and donate at www.medicalservicedogs.org.

Westport Police Athletic League Children’s Holiday Party

Westport's oldest youth organization established in 1948, P.A.L. held a festive Children’s Holiday Party on Sunday, December 8th at VFW Post 399 for over 200 attendees. The luncheon buffet was a children’s favorite that was superbly prepared by Gallo’s Sandbar catering and of course plenty of holiday cookies were available for Santa.

Memorial Event for Westport Firefighter Turk Aksoy

Following the wake and memorial service for Firefighter Turk Aksoy, who died of an occupational cancer at age 46, the Westport VFW Post 399 donated the banquet room for an event hosting 250 attendees following the memorial service.
